Tulum 2019 Preview – Esto Es Tulum

Posted in Uncategorized

Almost a decade ago, we began our unforgettable Tulum journey. What started as an obligatory, week-long January “decompression stop”, has turned into a multi-month spectacle, attracting both fans and top tier talent from all corners of the globe. Our first few Tulum excursions were filled with the typical (what we call) “Deathtraps”, 1-2 meter deep potholes to navigate around, power outages or no power at night on the beach and extremely limited food at odd hours. Fast forward 5 years, and you can enjoy the Tulum equivalent of Uber Eats, excellent transportation options and a significantly improved infrastructure. A decade ago it would have been nearly impossible to host any large scale, multi-day events in the small seaside town. Today, Tulum is host to multiple, extensive events simultaneously, and an almost unimaginable amount of smaller satellite parties.

The creative use of unique outdoor spaces as venues, makes Tulum one of the most distinctive places to spend your winter months. Whether you’re on the beach, in the jungle or in a cenote, all venues practice the same leave no trace policy to ensure preservation of the natural surroundings. From December 28, 2018 to January 26, 2019, Cenote Tortuga will host Esto Es Tulum, a month long immersion into music, nature, gastronomic experiences and workshops. While Tulum and The Riviera Maya aren’t short on any of the mentioned above, we’re excited to see how all of these elements will come together to create an unforgettable experience.
